  Totally New Life:

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. for Jr. High Students and 7:00 p.m. for High School StudentsTotally New Life (TNL) started in 1992 as a way to reach out and minister to students. Every Tuesday night, Jr. and Sr. high students are invited to arrive at 6:30 pm for some fellowship, grub, and a game. At 7:00 pm we officially kick off with announcements, an activity, worship, and more. Most nights, we end by dividing up the junior high and high school students into appropriate age subject matter and teaching times. Some nights we will all be together for an extended worship time or more interactive activities. However, this ministry doesn’t stop at a church building on Tuesday nights. Through out a typical week we hang out on your school campus, drive off to lunch, watch your sporting events, and have several monthly and yearly events, trips, or activities. Some of those events include Magic Mountain, skating, bowling, winter and summer camps, mission trips, community out reaches and more. One thing’s for sure: You’ll never be bored!!!

TRANSITION HOUSE
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE

Philosophy & Strategy

Transition House was started by volunteers in the community who took personal responsibility for their neighbors in need. Volunteers continue to do meaningful and essential work at Transition House. 1,200 volunteers account for 25% of agency resources.

Transition House has adopted a philosophy to explain the underlying causes of family homelessness. Using that philosophy as a basis, a strategy has evolved to solve homelessness for capable and motivated families, and to end their reliance on public assistance.

The philosophy is that the root cause of family homelessness is poverty. There may be other contributing factors, but underlying it all is poverty.

To solve family homelessness and welfare dependence, Transition House helps families find ways to alleviate their poverty. Staff and volunteers work with them to discover, or sometimes create, realistic avenues to meet the goal of safe and affordable housing, a good and meaningful job that pays a decent living wage, and access to high quality childcare that is within the family's means. While working toward these goals, Transition House provides family centered support through strong case management and supportive services.

The program Transition House has conceived and implemented is having remarkable results. On average, 60% return to permanent housing with the economic means to sustain it.
